How We Qualify Our Gay-Owned/Gay-Friendly Merchants
Many of the stores featured on Rainbow Shopping Network are designated as gay-owned and/or gay-friendly based on specific criteria we set forth.
Gay-owned merchants must be owned by at least one member of the GLBT community and must openly acknowledge that they are gay-owned. It is preferred that gay-owned stores feature one of the many gay pride symbols on their website, but it is not required.
To be considered gay-friendly, merchants must meet much more rigorous criteria:
- Offer domestic partnership benefits to employees, and
- Include employee non-discrimination policy addressing sexual orientation, and
- Meet one or more of the following: Advertise/market to the GLBT community, or Sponsor events for the GLBT community, or Philanthropy on behalf of GLBT causes, or Offer diversity training classes, or
Provide access to GLBT resource group or diversity council, or Not engage in any practices that would undermine GLBT equality
Many of the gay-friendly stores in our marketplace go above and beyond our stated requirements because each understands that supporting the GLBT community is not only the right thing to do, but it’s also good for business.
